Young Lawyers Section Charitable Projects 2008 - 2009
Every year the Young Lawyers Section sponsors numerous charitable activities. Below are some of the highlights from 2008 and 2009.
- The YLS, along with Hare, Wynn, Newell and Newton, sponsored the YMCA Ronnie Noojin Race to the Courthouse to benefit the YMCA Strong Kids community program.
- The YLS served as one of the sponsors for the Alabama Bar Young Lawyer Section Minority Pre-Law Conferences, which took place in Birmingham and Montgomery.
- The YLS contributed $4,500 to Magic Moments, an organization that grants "wishes" for terminally ill children.

- The YLS contributed $9,000 to Children's Harbor, which provides support, assistance, counseling and other services for families with children facing serious illnesses. The money donated helped to fund the "Night Light Program" at the Family Resource Center at Children's Hospital in Birmingham.

- The YLS contributed $26,500 to The Exceptional Foundation for a wheelchair-accessible van. The Exceptional Foundation provides social and recreational services and activities for mentally and/or physically challenged individuals.

- The YLS has kicked off fundraising efforts for 2009 and more information will be provided in the mid-year update.
