ADDITIONAL VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES:

In addition to the committees listed on the 2009 Committee Preferences Form, the Association has three task forces dedicated to specific issues.  These are:

  • TASK FORCE ON DIVERISTY INITIATIVE
    Goals and Tasks:
    To develop a diversity initiative program, including the process and procedures, with a goal of fostering an environment that will attract and retain minority law students and minority lawyers in Birmingham.
  • TASK FORCE ON JOINT SERVICE ACTIVITIES
    Goals and Tasks:
    To identify and recommend to both the BBA and the Magic City Bar projects where members of both organizations can work jointly to address a community need and to foster a greater working relationship between members of both organizations.
  • FUTURE LEADERS TASK FORCE
    Goals and Tasks:
    To continue the newly created Future Leaders Forum, which is dedicated to providing tools to motivate attorneys who have been practicing law for 3 to 7 years, to enhance their qualities of leadership, and to provide a solid professional foundation based on professionalism and ethics; to plan future Forums; to conduct such Forums.

Women Lawyers Section Luncheon    9-Sep-2008
The Legal Marketing Association Southeastern Chapter (LMASE) Birmingham City Group and the Women Lawyers Section of the Birmingham Bar Association presents a panel entitled "An Insiders View", where industry leaders share their insight on what companies look for when hiring professional advisors. This event will be held on Tuesday, September 9th on the 3rd floor of the Harbert Center located in downtown Birmingham from Noon until 2 p.m. The panelists include Paige Goldman, Corporate Counsel  Energen Corporation; Fred Keith, President  HKW Associates P.C. and Ron Meredith, CEO  Quest Health Systems. This will be an informative and beneficial event for everyone who attends. The cost (includes lunch) is $20 for LMASE and WLS members and $40 for non-members.
