The Birmingham Bar Association has won the Alabama State Bar's Local Bar Award of Achievement for 2009! The Award will be presented at the Alabama State Bar Convention. You can read the announcement letter here (in PDF format) and be sure to read the last line of the letter.

The application for the $2,000.00 Scholarship Grant, to be awarded by the Birmingham Bar Association, for use by law students at Cumberland School of Law and the University of Alabama School of Law is now online. Scholarships will be limited to 2nd and 3rd year students. Applications should include need, scholastic achievement and intent to practice law in Birmingham, Alabama. Download the application in PDF format. Applications are due by October 30, 2009.

The Alabama Supreme Court has, as of October 24, 2008 (effective immediately), amended Rule 3(b), Rule 4, Rule 5, Rule 6(e), Rule 11, Rule 55(a), Rule 58, Rule 59.1, Rule 77(d), and Rule 79, of the Alabama Rules of Civil Procedure. Please take note of the important changes in this PDF Order from the Alabama Supreme Court.
The Women Lawyers Section of the Birmingham Bar Association has been awarded the National Conference of Women's Bar Associations its 2009 Service Award for the Section's Family Court Book Project. The Section will receive this award at the 2009 American Bar Association Annual Meeting in Chicago. A local presentation will be made on Friday, August 14, 2009, at 10:00 a.m. at the Jefferson County Family Court.
