The Honorable Eugene R. Verin, Jefferson County Senior Circuit Judge, began the BBA New Lawyer Mentoring Program as a pilot project in 2008. Thanks to tremendous effort and commitment by Judge Verin, Pooja Chawla, Tom Wilson and others, the Mentoring Program now continues on an annual basis and provides support, experience and encouragement for new lawyers.
The Mentoring Program has five primary components: Professionalism, Legal Ethics and Civility, Career Development and Attorney Wellness, Basic Skills Practice Areas and Courtroom Sessions. The Program requires a 5-month commitment, which includes in-person Mentee-Mentor meetings and attendance at group events. Mentees and Mentors can choose to participate in either the Spring Session (January - May) or the Fall Session (August - December).
